Defensive lineman Jihad Ward of the Oakland Raiders recently underwent surgery for his foot. If he heals according to his timetable, he should be ready to return to camp by mid-August. However, the team has chosen to not rush his return and instead would like to give Ward as much time as possible to recover. Since the Raiders are set to start training July 29th, Ward is expected to start camp on the physically unable to perform list.
